Mission
Honoring Union Veterans
The SUVCW cooperates with other veterans organizations to honor all who have served our country in the military. We observe the national holidays honoring veterans living and dead, and work to preserve and maintain not only the the graves of Civil War veterans but also the monuments and memorials that honor them.
Preserving the Legacy of the Grand Army of the Republic
We seek to preserve the records, documents, and artifacts of the G.A.R. and its members. Our formal meetings and encampments are conducted according to the traditions and rituals of the original Order we succeed.
Patriotic Instruction
An integral part of every SUVCW meeting agenda includes a review of a particular Civil War related historical event or topic, either by a guest speaker or as a presentation by the Camp’s Patriotic Instructor. Additionally, the Order serves as a steward of the Nation’s rich patriotic legacy, as we participate in public events, festivals, and ceremonies.
